Similar to L4D's Dam It, this campaign is composed of one large map, where various objectives that you need to achieve in a specific order are scattered around.
You'll have thus to pick the flamethrower in a certain area of the map to clean a room located elsewhere, in order to reboot a generator that will allow you to open a door in a third spot.
The freedom of action is limited - a inherent point to this game - but the exploration will be rewarded by extra gear that you will find here and there. Those gears won't be always necessary, but worthwhile nonetheless.
Very slick graphically wise, this short campaign should please everyone bored by replaying 6000 times the only official campaign.
The available version here is the 1.2
If you want to play solo (with bots), you just have to:
- go to .../steamapps/common/alien swarm/swarm/cfg
- create a autoexec.cfg file if it doesn't exists yet,
- and add the following lines:
asw_ignore_need_two_player_requirement 1
asw_show_all_singleplayer_maps 1
Afterwards, each activated addons maps will be shown in the campaign choice in training mode.
